About the Performance
Sex, Cynicism and Other Small Miracles is a unique exploration of modern existence, blending spoken word with live musical accompaniment. The performance delves into the complexities of life in the 21st century, tackling themes ranging from the crushing weight of urban rent to the fleeting nature of modern romance. While the subject matter is often heavy, the show finds beauty in the absurdity of our daily struggles. Much like finding a relaxed retreat in a bustling city, this performance offers a moment of clarity amidst the noise of contemporary life.
Featured Artists: Lachlan the Bray and Garrett Riley
The show features the creative synergy of Australian spoken-word artist Lachlan the Bray and Bay Area musician Garrett Riley. Lachlan, who has made San Francisco his home, brings a theatrical background that includes work with the Sydney Theatre Company and various local productions. His partner in this endeavor, Garrett Riley, is a well-known figure in the local rock scene, bringing a high-energy, stylish approach to the poetry world. Together, they are supported by a talented musical trio led by bassist Tyden Binsted, ensuring that the eighty-minute set is as rhythmically engaging as it is lyrically sharp.
